History of The 100 Club

The 100 Club

The 100 Club is a legendary venue that has played host to many different bands of many different styles and its longevity and success over the last 60 years have been down to an open-minded music policy and the dedication of its many patrons over those years. There’s nowhere else like it in the world!

When Paul McCartney played the 100 Club

Load-in day (which is the day the equipment arrives): Paul McCartney’s piano tech asks me if I’ve got a Hoover because Paul’s gonna play my piano and he needs to clean it up! So, I’m delighted that Sir Paul’s going to play my piano and the tech replies – that’s all very well, but it’s probably the worst fucking piano Paul’s played in 40 years!

Day of the show: it’s obvious that it’s been a long while since Paul McCartney has played somewhere as small, but after three or four songs, the layers start to come off and you can tell he really gets the 100 Club. And towards the end of the set he says to the crowd ‘Well, Mr 100, you’ve really got to keep this place going because it’s really, really cool’.
